The Greenville Transportation Enhancements Project consisted of two separate but related efforts, both involving rail improvements. NCDOT needed a website to house complex technical information and intricate maps, and be single source to effectively communicate information about both projects. So the state agency turned to Springboard Eydo for assistance.
Springboard Eydo worked together with NCDOT to identify important aspects of the overall public involvement program that needed to receive the highest visibility through graphics and written text. Working directly with NCDOT Rail Division staff, Springboard Eydo was able to grasp the important technical aspects of the project and how these could be communicated to the public in a manner that would be comprehended by non-engineers. Through careful graphic design and content creation, Springboard Eydo was able to establish an identifiable brand for the project that successfully resonated with the audience.
Due to the scope of these two rail improvement projects, it was essential that the website have a single identity, yet maintain capable of presenting the complex information of both projects using easily understood graphics and concise content. Community members seeking information about either project needed to have easy access, appealing interface and logical navigation throughout the site to be able to feel engaged in the public involvement process.
According to Nancy Horne, P.E., Project Manager for NCDOT, "The website Springboard Eydo did for the Greenville Transportation Enhancements Project was perfect. It captured the excitement of the improvements and also provided a very user-friendly platform for members of the community to access and learn about the project. As a result of the website and other activities from the team, the public involvement process was a real success."
